Beatles' L.A. Security Chief dead at 80
From Dan Jordan in West Covina, CA
I have some very sad news to report. My wife and I are friends of Jo and Ernie Padilla. It is with great sadness that I am reporting that Ernie Paddilla, who was Chief of Security to the Beatles at their two performances at the Hollywood Bowl and Dodger Stadium, has passed away. Ernie was 80 years old.
Ernie died from smoke inhalation in a home fire which consumed the entire home. Many rare photographs and Beatle items given to Ernie and his Daughter, were lost in the blaze.
The memorial service for Ernie will be on Saturday, March 5 at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn in Covina Hills which is at 21300 E. Via Verde St. in Covina. Donations in Lieu of Flowers can be made in Ernie Padilla's name to Little Flower Missionary House, which is located at 2434 Gates St. in Los Angeles, CA 90031.
A book about Ernie and his career was in the final stages. When more details about its release become available, they will be posted here.
If you would like to send email condolences, email them to me at EmailDanJordan@aol.com and I will forward them on to Jo and the family.
