The kosher meat industry sheds crocodile tears

Should the federal grand jury currently investigating possible anti-trust violations on the part of certain unnamed kosher meat suppliers uncover evidence of unkosher business practice, ( I'll bet... )

( Yeah right. WTF is the gripe this time, old bag? )
All right... Now that this post is done, time for us to go out and shlep some more rounds of job apps.
*sigh* Unless we can collect the money somebody borrowed in February, we cannot pay our next rent on the first of September. :(

| » Shabbat Shooze ~ Won't You Come Home Disraeli? Won't You Come Home? |
Those of us both statesider and goyish ~ traits which I assume characterize the majority of my flisters ~ may not be very familiar with the historical figure Benjamin Disraeli. However, those who have heard his name, probably in our much-too-America-centric high school history classes, most likely only know he was some kind of British statesman. The most well-educated in my little world would probably recognize him as Queen Victoria's most famous prime minister who happened to have been Jewish ~ and that would be it.
By the way, my favorite piece of Disraelia is the Allan Sherman masterpiece, "Won't You Come Home, Disraeli?" ~ sung to the tune of "Won't You Come Home, Bill Bailey?"
I scoured the 'net (a mini-scour job, actually) in an effort to find that song, but the best I could do was another shmooze-related gem.
( Click to see/hear a YouTube version of that other clever ditty )
...but I digress.
There really isn't much out there in this popculture-infested country to enable us to passively absorb any knowledge that isn't force-fed to us via mass media ~ and if you didn't realize that "passive absorption" is today's method of education, then you have not been actively absorbing passively.
*Ahem...Excuse me*
After being entertained by the following article ~ which was, I must add, truly absorbing ~ *coughcough* ~ I recommend the rest of you actively take a crack at it. Much more interesting than I imagined it would be at the start!
Disraeli, Please Come Home Biography By Miriam Shaviv Thu. Sep 18, 2008Benjamin Disraeli By Adam Kirsch Pub. Schocken/Nextbook
Queen Victoria once asked Benjamin Disraeli, the 19th-century British prime minister, about his “real” religion.
“You were born a Jew and you forsook your great people,” she said. “Now you are a member of the Church of England, but no one believes that you are a Christian at heart. Please tell me, who are you and what are you?”
“Your Majesty,” Disraeli famously replied, ( I am... )

Aside to the Eppy-conscious amongst us: doesn't Disraeli's story kind of feel similar to Brian's conflicted psyche/loyalties?

It was almost a toss-up whether to put this on a Saturday or Sunday post. Since Christians do tend to scream and whine "sacrilege" far more than Jews, Sunday won. XD

| » Bit of Eppy birthday trivia |
On the weirdjews community, someone posted that in 2009 Talk Like A Pirate Day (Sept 19) will fall on Rosh Hashana.
This means that Eppy's 75th birthday will be the same as Jewish New Year!
As all true Eppy lovers know, Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) fell on the day he was actually born in 1934.
Oh well. Just thought this was a mite interesting. And, I had no time to post any more today.

You've probably seen this before ~ but for those who haven't ~
The History of the Middle East ~ ~ In a Couple of Minutes
What's really amusing are the YouTube comments ... OMG, the creator of this vid gets called both a Nazi and a Zionist and everything in-between, depending on who's making the statement.
These crazy narrow people are vehemently disagreeing with every little item in this simply-stated little cartoon ~ disagreeing in BOTH directions! ~ completely missing the point that this vid is not meant to be a detailed, meticulously all-inclusive thing.
People are a-n-a-l cretins.
Consider yourself lucky that the eppylover is not G-d. The universe being, of course, G-d's Etch-A-Sketch ~ the eppylover/G-d would have long ago turned it upside-down and shaken it madly in frustration

I adore the mixture of reggae, rap and Jewishness. Perfect blend.
The man, formerly Matthew Miller of Pennsylvania, is very religious ~ yet he does not preach ~ he does not actually promote Judaism in his music or his life, and he refuses to force it upon others, nor does he believe that others should follow him in his religion ~ UNLESS they feel it within themselves anyway.
